    To me media is a way to communicate. Through any type of medium. Examples of a media are newspapers, magazines, posters, art, websites, television, streaming services, social media platforms, books and so on. According to the Oxford language dictionary, social, or relating to society or its organization (adj.), or an informal social gathering, especially one organized by the members of a particular club or group (n.) and social media sites, applications, or accounts (n.). Networking is the action or process of interacting with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts (n.). 

    Social networking to me is a combination of those definition. Networking, connecting, and finding groups of people with similar interest and things in common via the internet. The social networking sites I use are Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, Pinterest, Snap Chat, and LinkedIn. I use these sites for a mix of both entertainment and professional work.  I specifically use Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for professional work. I also use Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Snap Chat, and Pinterest for personal use too. Personal use involves connecting with family and friends and sharing personal content about my life. Also Creating digital book clubs, selling things, getting inspiration for art and other hobbies. I use those social networking services daily. 

            Social media makes me feel a lot of different things- good and bad. It can make work a lot easier. It is easier to network and find others that need your business. It can be overwhelming at times with so much information coming at you at once, constantly. In the sense of my personal life, comparing myself to others through social media was always hard. People put their best face forward, even fake faces (photoshop and facetune). It’s hard to weed out the lies and fake news because of how much information you’re scrolling through. After scrolling through social media, I always feel drained, so I limit my personal time. I do enjoy my Instagram private account because of how small the information is, and I only see my close friends and family.  I enjoy sharing on there because its worry free and not draining. In regard to the world, I think social media is dangerous if not handled appropriately. Unrealistic standards are thrown out there, bullying, overstimulation, and it seems like it is melting my mind half the time. I sometimes wish the world was at a place where having social media wasn’t necessary.

    Hi Faith! You couldn't have expressed your definitions better. I use a lot of the same apps that you do and think that the hobbies you mentioned are awesome. I agree with you on how scary and dangerous social media really is. Because of what I see being put out there, it sometimes makes me want to curl up in a ball and roll away, but I always try to stay out of the chaos it brings and use it for the right reasons.

                  After reading We Are Data -Preface and introduction, I was surprised to learn more about the EU google restrictions. I was although I am aware of some of the things that the preface and introduction talked about, I still found it very creepy in a way how were all categorized by our internet usage. I logged into the   www.google.ads/preferences   and was looking through everything, surprisingly, they are very accurate. To the point of knowing personal things like we are trying to get pregnant. I also logged into google EU and did some research on there. Even looking up celebrities and influencers to see of the are categorized as one. Knowing this, I did change some privacy settings.
